A World Beyond Classooms

Are you a teacher? Bring the world into your classroom!

Global Playground offers schools a unique opportunity to learn about global issues, experience new cultures, and connect with other students around the world, while also making a positive contribution to international development.

Your students can help us build new schools. For a donation of $5,000, your students can sponsor one of our new schools. And for a donation of $30,000, your students can help plan and build a school at a location of their choice, anywhere in the developing world. Once the school is built, you -- the teacher -- will travel to the school (costs of travel are included) to help us facilitate cross-cultural dialogue between its students and yours. Your students will communicate with children abroad, via technology where infrastructure allows, and verbally or nonverbally, depending on whether languages are common or different. Your students will gain insight into their own lives and the lives of children halfway around the globe. The result will be life-changing.

help build it

Fundraise $5,000 for an educational project in a developing country. Teach your class about the particular country and region of the world.

teach a class

Visit the completed project, meet the community, and teach a new class of students for one week in the summer.

connect your classroom

Partner with Global Playground to customize an ongoing cross-cultural exchange program between your class and the students abroad using the activities in our Teacher Toolkit (PDF).

Our first "A World Beyond Classrooms" initiative will be Project Honduras. Global Playground will fund the construction of a new learning center equipped with technology for 200 students in El Progreso, Honduras.

There are a limited number of spaces remaining for schools to help fund Project Honduras. Following Honduras, your students will decide where we go next... Africa? Asia? Eastern Europe? South America? the Middle East? You decide!
